“Best hotel in Culebra”

I love love love this wonderful place. My husband and I live in San Juan, PR. When we want to get away from the hustle and bustle we head to Culebra, and stay at Bahia Marina. In the past we have stayed at different hotels in Culebra, and I have to say that there is no other like Bahia Marina. This Hotel has it all: great accommodations, facilities, food, and service. First, the air conditioned suits are spacious, comfortable, and have magnificent views. The upper level rooms have views overlooking the bay, and the lower level rooms have views overlooking the greenery and part of the bay. Also, this hotel has an on site restaurant (Dakity) which serves delicious food and you also have the option of eating at a beautiful terrace (Shipwreck), overlooking the scenery. The hotel has two wonderful pools, both with different views. Although when staying in Culebra you probably will be spending most of your time at the beach you should not miss spending some time at the poolside taking in the beauty of this paradise island. The hotel also has an on site car rental for your convenience, which we have used when staying in Culebra. Finally, we can't say enough about the wonderful staff: they are hands down Bahia Marina's best asset, as they go above and beyond to make your stay the most amazing getaway. If you would like to fish or boat or have a massage, you can find it all at Bahia Marina, they make all arrangements suited for your particular needs. Well, we adore this place, and can't wait to retreat back as soon as we can.

Me and my husband decided to stay here on our one year wedding anniversary. Nelly from reservations was extremelyyyyy helpful and nice. Everyone at the resort was so accommodating. Genuinely wanted to make sure they could help you with everything you might need or have questions with. The hotel seems like its family owned because everyone seems to work so well with each other which added to our pleasant experience. We convinced our family from puerto rico to come stay with us for the night and they were just as pleased as we were. The views and pools were AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG. My only complaint if its really a complaint is i just wish they offered breakfast. But i guess its just so that the smaller restaurants also get some business. Room was a little muggy but hey it the humidity and we should not really be spending so much time in there any way. ~~ Special Thanks to Jose Sr ..Jose jr.. Ally waitress/bartender ..and Nelly in reservations~ God willing we will be here again next year ;) Mr and Mrs Geiger

I went to celebrate my birthday with a couple of friends and family. The staff is extremely kind and the food at their restaurant is incredible (must try the ribs). The Villa's that we stayed at were very comfortable and the kitchen was impeccable...The pool area is lots of fun and the drinks are THE BEST-ask for Jose or Jorge they make the best Bushwacker's in Culebra. Don't hesitate to ask for anything, the staff is extremely nice, even when dealing with a table with over 15 guests (my group of friends aren't easy to handle)... Overall, its just amazing, already planned my next stay.

I stayed for a couple of nights along with few of my friends. I loved my stay at the hotel. The staff was amazing, very friendly and always at our service. The hotel staff picked us at the airport. The rooms our very comfotable and perfect for relaxing and having a good sleep. The amenities were excellent. The restaurant of the hotel was excellent, if you go, you should try the ribs (it's a MUST)... I would definitely reccomment anyone staying at the hotel.

I had he opportunity to stay of staying in June & July at the Bahia Marina Hotel. During our first stay... I had no idea were I was going because I was accompanying my brother and sister-in-law who came here to Puerto Rico for summer vacations. As part of their trip they decided to stay at a Hotel in Culebra and thanks to Trip Advisor they chose this hotel. Even though during our stay (as has been much of the summer here in Puerto Rico) there was rain, we enjoyed our stay so much. From the moment we arrived at the ferry dock everything was great. A very enthusiastic and friendly staff member picked up and took us to the Hotel where we were greeted by Lisa who very kindly helped us check-in and rent a car (you can rent a car @ the Hotel... it's so convenient). She provided us with a map and pointed out various places where we could go shopping for something's we wanted to keep in the fridge. We toured the area and returned to our very cozy two bed room, with 2 bathrooms (a huge plus!), futon and a kitchen (we had a great view of the bay ...seriously romantic. After dinner we stayed at the bar chatting with staff member and I have to say... I love their staff they are the friendliest people.
I returned two weeks later for a girls weekend and the experience exceeded all expectations that we might have had. We were picked up at the air port and treated like part of the family. The sun was awesome and we were able to enjoy the pool as well as a Trip to Culebrita which was so beautiful. For dinner we ate at the Hotel's restaurant and it was soooooo good. I had "mofongo de yuca relleno de churraso" and it was absolutely delicious ( I can't wait to go back to have it again.. yummy!).
All in all I believe that the experiences I had during our stay at this hotel have been so great that i practically made an advertising campaign in my facebook. I truly believe that this is a great place for a getaway and everybody should enjoy the experience.
I want to give a special thanks to Mr. Jose Sr and Jose jr for all their attentions. It was truly a pleasure meeting people as hospitable and humble as you guys. Thanks for making us feel at home.

Bahia Marina wasn't where we were supposed to stay in Culebra (we had originally rented a house, but it turned out to be filthy and full of dead bugs), but I am so grateful to Nelly and the owners, Jose and Lisa, for finding room for us at their gorgeous hotel.
And I can honestly say that not only was Bahia Marina gorgeous, but its staff was too - and extremely friendly, helpful and competent to boot! I have never met such a wonderful hotel staff in my life. Everyone was so kind and personable, and they turned a good vacation into a great one.
In addition to the exceptional staff, the accommodations were simply perfect - clean, comfortable, modern and spacious. The bedrooms had nice firm beds. The kitchen was perfectly equipped for cooking (though why cook when the hotel has a delicious restaurant and a group of great bartenders?). The marble bathrooms were spotless. And our balcony view was spectacular - overlooking one of the hotel's beautiful pools and facing some of the island's verdant landscape as well as one of its deep blue bays. In other words, it was breathtaking. And at night it was magical to sit on the balcony; hear and feel nothing but the island breeze; and gaze into the shimmering night sky - so many stars! I even saw a shooting star!
I could go on about how wonderful, peaceful and beautiful Bahia Marina is, but then I would be keeping you from making your reservation there and enjoying a bit of paradise yourself!

What an excellent place for our daughter's destination wedding. She and spouse lived in Ohio, now have moved to SE US.. The rest of us have been relocated to PR. We all went to Culebra a year before (my 50th Bday just happened to fall on the weekend..fab, another awesome story.)
Since she was a 5 or 6 year old, she wanted to live on a beach and get married one one. A dream come true!
We had the ceremony at flamenco ( one of the world's top 2 beaches, depends on what you read, but sooo awesome.). Many Puerto Ricans spend the weekends there and I was concerned of the crowd. It was the best place for a sunset wedding, although. Everyone was quiet, 90% stood to the side, watched, took pictures and even recorded the ceremony. When it was finished they all applauded and whooped and hollered, which was kind of cool since it was a small get together. No one bothered us at all.
The reception was at the Bahia Marina's upper pool with the most awesome food. I guess I left out the rehearsal dinner the night before. Just as awesome, only different. I can't compare. Jose and Lisa did all they could to make sure all was perfection. The staff was AWESOME and did everything in their power to take care of everyone. Even Jose took care of my granddaughter's desire for child's food at the reception. He certainly charmed her!
Lisa's work as a wedding planner for the reception made everything beautiful. My in-laws (one is rather disabled) enjoyed it immensely, (I was nervous, DIL thing after all these years.)
On Lisa's recommendation, Delphine (from PR, the main island) did all of the girls make up and naturally the brides. He was great to work with and did an amazing job, and did it quickly to boot.
My 8 y/o granddaughter got his 'autograph" as he gave her a touch of glamour, also. They looked so gorgeous. I want to see him at his salon someday.
I know this is long but what a wonderful wedding it was. The B & G then went to Antigua where the groom got ill (water? don't know.) 5 days into it.
Rooms are awesome, service is beyond compare and the food is out of this world. I would recommend this place to EVERYONE. This was our second time here, and I will have to write again about that trip. Sailing with Captain Bill gave me beautiful dreams for months afterwards. He knew all the best places to go, deserted (sp?) beachwise or deep sea fishing. And he meal he prepared would put most chefs to shame.!
I can't wait to return!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hotel is beautiful. Angelica and the rest of the staff were very friendly, corteous and made us feel welcome. The room was very clean, nicely decorated, large and with an incredible view off the balcony overlooking the bay.
We were greatly impressed with the island of Culebra, its people and Bahia Marina is part of said fantastic world and atmosphere. Bahia Marina is an spectacular place to stay in Culebra and has it all, including "A View to a Paradise".

Let Me start by saying that tears were streaming down my face as i was leaving Culebra. this place is magical. it touched my heart. The community, the island, even the animals, all so beautiful, happy and positive! And let me tell ya... the food! Jesus i did not have 1 bad meal here, from the kiosks at flamenco, to the gourmet meal at the Bahia, i cleaned my plate every time! and i have to give a shout out to the El Batey, the best burger on the planet, seriously. (ask for hot sauce!)
As for a place to stay on the island, Hands down it the Bahia Marina. awesome location, a great restaurant, great pools. I felt i had privacy, and it was quiet, yet on the weekends the lower pool, carries a lot of fun, with a swim up bar, a great lunch, (which Daniel makes the best neatest sandwiches,) And the best waitress ever Ally who provided you with an awesome memory of how you like your drinks.! and then there is sue... please treat yourself to a wonderful message . she has great energy.
And Jose, what a great guy. when we could not get a boat out to Culebrita that week, he personally took out us out on his boat for an afternoon so we can snorkel and see the turtles he brought along Jorge who guided us on a hike to the natural pools on the island, they provided us with lunch, and great company. Instead of thinking about my vacation, all i can think of is when and how am i going to get back there sooner! And i would definitely stay at the Bahia.
To all the people at the bahia, thank you for making our honeymoon a wonderful memory!

This is the
best place on the island to stay.
The staff is amazing and will help
you with anything you could ask for.
They were exceptionally
accommodating when our flight to PR
was delayed and we had to give up
one night on the island. The pools
were great and the location can not
be beat once you get used to driving
the jeep up the hill.
Of all the meals we had in Culebra
we enjoyed the one here the most. It
was delicious and we can be a little
snobby about food. The staff also
gave us great recommendations on
where to go on the island.
We have always said we do not want
to travel to a place twice but
Culebra is on our list to revisit
soon! And we will be staying here
again without a doubt.

We arrived in to
Culebra picked up our rental car and made our way to the Bahia
Marina Hotel. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a wonderful
welcome drink and shown to our rooms. The views were beautiful.
The rooms were all that we expected, clean plenty of room, a
balcony over looking the pool with the swim up bar. We enjoyed
eating in the hotel restaurant. Food was excellent!!!! And we
tried everything on the menu.
BUT, The very best thing that we did was to go on the day trip
with Captain Bill on his 33ft. sailboat. He took us to wonderful
dive spots, great beaches, and wonderful photo opps. His meal on
the boat was as good as any restaurants. We enjoyed it so much
we did the trip again on Tuesday. This time he took us to the
other side of the island for another wonderful day. We will be
going back to the Bahia Marina to stay and out with Captain Bill
and his dog GIGI!!

Truly a great spot. They have 2 pool

don't want to mislead you as it is

Though we did not stay
at the Bahia Marina on our recent vacation on Culebra, we did book a
day-sail on the Bahia Marina's "Pez Vela" with Capt. Bill Penfield.
Bill was an excellent skipper who provided me, my wife, and two
small children a fantastic day of sailing. He was professional,
reliable, and courteous, and picked us up right at our
accommodations. The day-sail took us around a bit of Culebra, out to
Culebrita where we snorkeled a bit and enjoyed the solace and beauty
of Playa Tortuga. After that, we were treated to a mouthwatering
meal of fresh-caught kingfish (PB&J for the kiddos), and we headed
back to Culebra. Overall, the sail was our best experience in all of
Puerto Rico!

Terrific place to
stay. Staff was incredibly accommodating, including working with
us to secure a room mid-week after our first villa was too
small. Once at the Bahia Marina, we made honest-to-goodness
FRIENDS with many of the staff and received very warm welcomes
by name each time we visited the restaurant or pools. The condo
was perfect for us and in great condition, and someone came to
clean each day. These folks earned the right to have more
business come their way, and I surely intend to stay with them
again should I ever have the privilege of returning to Culebra.

We stayed at the Bahia
Marina April 2-8, 2010 in a 2 bedroom condo viewing the lower pool.
This was not our first trip to Culebra, we have visited Flamenco
Beach many times while we were stationed in Puerto Rico. However,
this was our first opportunity to stay on Culebra for a week.
First of all the island of Culebra is still relatively unspoiled,
the beaches are quite empty (with the exception of Flamenco), the
reefs are pristine and the island isn't a tourist nightmare like St.
Thomas or San Juan. We were left alone to explore and relax which is
exactly what we wanted. If you are looking for nightlife, crowds and
cheesy tourist shops then don't go to Culebra.
The condo was nicely decorated, clean and quiet even with several
families staying there we couldn't hear anything at night and slept
peacefully. Air conditioning worked great, maid service was great
and the kitchen had all of the cooking supplies you would need. The
staff is friendly but not bothersome, the food at both restaurants
and the swim up bar are terrific and the Mojitos were perfect
(thanks Sarah!). If we needed anything Nelly was there to help.
You will need to rent a car if you stay here, the beaches aren't
within walking distance, visit Zoni Beach if you want to get away
from large crowds. And finally the best part of our vacation was our
boat ride with Captain Bill. If you only have one splurge this
should be it. He was friendly and let our family enjoy his boat like
it were our own. He brought us to some spectacular beaches, made the
best lunch I have had in a very long time and even made our son
comfortable enough to snorkel and swim with sea turtles. His dog Gi
Gi is also a great asset to the boat ride I wanted to bring her home
with me!
Bottom line is if you want peace and quiet, relaxation, nature, good
food and a clean, friendly place to stay this is for you.
We will be back again!

This was one of the
best places my family and I had ever stayed. It was PERFECT for a
family - lots of room, TWO bathrooms, great kitchenette, balcony
with a beautiful view. And the pools (especially the upper one!) was
fantastic. We loved staying on the island of Culebra, and actually
spent a lot of time just being at the hotel, it was so nice! We ate
at the restaurant several times - fantastic food, the friendliest
wait staff - they took care of us from start to finish, even picked
us up and returned us to the airport! I can't say enough about this
place. We usually like to visit different places, but I would
DEFINITELY return to Culebra and the Bahia Marina Resort.

A beautiful view, nice

a problem with our air conditioning when we first arrived and the
staff took care of it, replacing the unit for us, and even asked us
to enjoy a drink at the pool side bar on them while they fixed it!
Couldn't have asked for a better hotel for our vacation with our
kids. Transportation to and from the airport was provided and we
were able to rent a Jeep right at the hotel. The staff knew us by
name and made us feel very welcome. If we make it back to Culebra,

We flew from San Juan to
Culebra for our honeymoon (be sure you go from the small Isla Grande
airport, not SJU). You arrive on Culebra, give the Bahia Marina a call
and they come and pick you up. The first thing you notice about the
island and the Bahia Marina itself is that everyone is so happy to be
there. Nellie is like a mother to her guests. When Juan took us to our
room, we found it was actually like a condo with a bedroom, 2 bathrooms,
and a very comfortable living room / kitchen. He opened the curtains and
jokingly said, “Here is your horrible view.” Wow. We were looking over
the harbor and across to the mountain beyond. I loved going out on the
deck to read. Be careful not to step on the little lizards that are
everywhere when you walk around the lush landscape.
The food at Bahia Marina is simply the best. You kind of feel obliged to
eat at every last restaurant on the tourist map they give you, but
don’t. We went back for their pan-seared scallop appetizer once, and
wish we had done it more. The pool side bar was nice and casual and
their pulpo (octopus) salad is very good. Make sure to book a massage
with Susan while you’re there; she is really good at making you relax
and enjoy yourself so do this soon after you arrive. Her cards should be
available around the resort.
You can conveniently rent your car right there at the front desk. We
reserved at Thrifty.com, but didn’t need to. Everyone says to get a Jeep
but I think we could have gotten away with a regular compact. This sums
up the Bahia Marina: we wanted to eat before going to the airport but
weren’t sure if we had time. The staff said, “No problem. Take your
rental car to the airport and leave it there. We’ll pick it up.” We were
very impressed with the level of service and hope to be back to
celebrate future anniversaries!

What a great

Staff:
You will

Thanks Nelly

Accommodations:

Extras:
There are

one up top
with great

another down

where you
can get

Food:
We went to
almost every
restaurant
on the

this one is
without a

top 3 (would
also
recommend
Suzie's -
these are
both much
better than

The island

There are no

We stayed at Bahia
Marina for four
nights and
absolutely loved it.
When our ferry to
come over the first
night was late they
called to check on
us and offered to
have a hot plate
waiting in our room.
The plate was a
seafood pasta and it
was delicious. Our
room was like a
condo, with two
bathrooms, a kitchen
and a balcony. The
view off the balcony
was gorgeous and we
ate breakfast and
drank wine there.
The food was really
good and the staff
was amazingly
helpful and kind.
The restaurant/bar
was very close to
our room and we
spent many of our
nights sitting at
the bar talking to
the friendly staff -
Juan, Jose Sr., Jose
Jr. and Amanda. One
night they even
allowed us to play
music from our iPods
(Thievery
Corporation). The
office staff was
also very friendly
and accommodating.
The car rental was
right on site, which
was very convenient.
There are two pools
and they are both
lovely. We hated
leaving and want to
return. The tiny
island of Culebra is
paradise and a very
cool place for a
vacation. The
beaches are
gorgeous. It's not
crowded and worth
the effort to get
there.

We went with
some friends
in total we
were 4
Adults and 3
Kids 4-5-8
The kids had
a great time
at the big
pool. The
views from
the upper
pool were
great but
the pool at
the top is
smaller and
quieter so
we spared
the other
guests our
loud kids ;)
The rooms
were large,
ours
overlooked
the pool and
a bit of the
bay. We had
a 2 room
suite with a
kitchenette,
it was
perfect, we
had
breakfast in
the room and
made lunches
for our day
trips. The
beaches are
great, we
were there
on windy
days so the
waves were
pretty high
but still
had fun,
Kids and
adults went
snorkeling
from shore
which was ok
but not too
much to see,
coral, a few
shells and
some small
fish.
Overall it
was a great

gave us a

just relax

The staff at this
hotel was amazing.
They were kind,
never rushed you,
got us what we
needed, spent lots
of time telling us
"where the best
spots were on the
island".
They have 2 great
pools. I wish
though, that they
had food at the
pools daily instead
of just on the
weekends. The pool
food was good but
they didn't have
options for a
vegetarian.
The Bar food too was
so fantastic! It was
as good as the top
restaurants in NYC.
I wish they put in
some more options
for veggie dishes.
Don't miss the
Bailey's colada
drink!! Ask Juan to
make it.
Angelica at the
front desk is great
too. Even the lady
who works behind the
counter who was
raised in NYC. You
can ask them for
anything! They don't
rush you and will do
what it takes to
help.
We decided not to
rent a jeep. The
roads are not always
smooth. The front
desk will call a
taxi for you $5/pp
to the Flamenco
Beach. This Beach is
one of the most
beautiful places in
the world! They have
yummy Puerto Rican
food there and
virgin pina coladas.
Our room had a big
bedroom, 2 baths, a
kitchen, tv and
place to eat
outdoors.
Unfortunately, the
kitchen did not have
a screen for the
patio area. There
wasn't a fan either.
That made for a
stuffy environment.
All they need is a
screen for the big
sliding glass doors
and a giant fan.
The bedrooms were
dark and stuffy. The
ventilation could be
improved.
I would highly
recommend this
hotel. Great staff,
Great food, Great
views, Great pool!!!

I am so happy I
chose Bahia
Marina for our
trip to Culebra.
Culebra is not
St. Bart's and
Bahia Marina is
not a W hotel --
but I'd go back
to Bahia Marina
before going
back to either
of the
aforementioned
spots. The room
was very clean
with a great
view of a bay.
From our balcony
we watched the
small planes in
the distance.
The island is
small and the
hotel is a quick
Jeep ride to
town or a bit
further
(minutes) to
Flamenco Beach.
Flamenco is a
stunning beach.
There are other
beaches that are
great for
snorkeling, but
not with the
long stretch of
white sand. My
7-yr old
snorkeled with a
sea turtle! The
staff at the
hotel is very
accommodating.
They greeted us
whenever we
walked by the
outside
bar/dining area
and addressed
both of my young
sons by name --
which made the
boys feel
special. We were
given fresh
beach towels
each day and
handed over our
sandy wet ones
when we got back
from our
adventures. We
went in early
December,
perfect weather
& right before
the holiday
crowds. There
were only a few
other occupied
rooms at that
time. I hope
this hotel will
fare well
through the
recession. They
deserve it. The
two pools are
sparkling clean
and the upper
pool has a great
view. Hotel food
is typically
priced a bit
higher than what
you might pay in
town at a cafe,
but the dinner
they prepared
for us was worth
it. Fresh and
fantastic -- a
great way to end
our first night
on the island.
They helped us
w/Jeep rental
and the deal was
the best on the
Island. Bahia
Marina is one of
those gems that
you want to keep
secret, but at
the same time
want everyone to
know about so
they succeed.
(Lovely doctor
on the island --
our baby got an
ear infection
and the medical
staff in town
was great).

I write this review
only at the risk of
sounding like a
commercial for this
hotel but my
girlfriend and I got
back from Culebra
last night and I
setup my Trip
Advisor account this
morning just to
write this review.
Bahia Marina is a
great hotel if you
want to relax in
Culebra in a
peaceful and scenic
setting. The staff
we interacted with
at this hotel (Jose
the owner, J.I. his
son, Lisa who helped
us with reservations
among others) were
some of the most
hospitable hosts I
have come across.
From getting us from
and dropping us off
at the little
culebra airport to
being generous with
their helpful advice
on things to do and
when and how to do
them, the staff at
Bahia Marina was
incredible in every
way. The hotel also
runs a Thrifty car
rental service on
location (very
convenient) and they
hooked us up with an
upgraded ride for
our 3-4 days with
the hotel.
We got one of their
1BR condos and the
unit was in great
shape. The view of
the bay from our
living room was
something amazing to
wake up to each
morning. The room
had a full service
kitchen and we
bought groceries
from the local
supermarket and
cooked up breakfast
each morning.
Lunches and dinners
were taken around
town at different
locations. We ate at
Bahia Marina on two
nights and the fare
here is REALLY good.
The Chef (Dunkin)
cooks up quite a
plate and the whole
red snapper is a
delectable
concoction for the
not-weak-at-heart
seafood fan (me).
The pools are all
nestled in scenic
spots on the hill
that BM is on and
were clean.
I was recommended
this hotel by my
travel provider and
so read all the
reviews for this
hotel before
booking. All said
and done, I am back
in freezing NY and
aching to go back to
Bahia Marina and
Cool-ebra. I HIGHLY
recommend you
consider this hotel
for your stay on the
island. I was
between Club
Seabourne and this
hotel but am very
happy i went with BM
at the end.

I

but the plane couldn't
get there. No problem,
we weren't charged for
the missed night and
were allowed a late

The staff is very

The restaurant and bar

There are two pools with

Away from all the hotel
noises you expect, not
even your occasional car
horn, we got the view to
the Northern side, the
low side swimming pool,
towards a green hill. We
just loved it. We dined
at the restaurant the
first night and it was a
wonderful place with a
great view or the area,
comfortable seating, and
pleasant quiet
atmosphere. Food and
drinks were great!! The
staff made us feel that
we were the only ones
around even when there
were lots of people
renting cars, asking for
directions, towels, etc.
We also had lunch at the
swimming pool and the

unique. We are coming

recommending the place
since we returned to PR

Upon
arrival, to the airport we were
fetched by the hotels shuttle.
First thing that struck me was
the silence of the place.
we rented an apartment with 2
rooms 2 bathrooms and a living
room with a connecting kitchen.
my eldest daughter slept in the
day bed there and we had a
comfortable suite for ourselves
while our 2 sons shared another
room. within the master suite
there is a full washing machine
and drier (super handy after a
beach day!!)
I took some goodies with us in
the airplane but were able to
shop for everything at local
supermarkets, for us to have
breakfast.
the place is glorious, people
are BEYOND helpful, everybody
speaks English, and we just had
a relaxing 4 days going everyday
to a different beach, and one of
the days renting a catamaran
from captain bill to snorkel and
dive.
at night the place gets busy in
the hotel bar and you can have
dinner (very good food) and
there is Wi-Fi for the computer
freaks who need to stay in
touch.
A MUST is renting a jeep to go
around the island and the beach
(automatic gear all of them) and
don't miss the snorkeling in the
natural reserve (you have to do
some trekking to reach there and
take food and water) There is a
detailed map you can get at the
hotel or airport.
The hotel provides for beach
towels ice coolers and you can
buy a bag of ice from them so
all you will need is your
bathing suits.
although I have 3 very active
children they seem to bond with
the atmosphere and we spent a
lovely end of the year time.
MUST say there was no
availability for the 31st and
BOTH LISA and NELLY worked like
maniacs for this trip to happen
for us so we are very grateful
to all of them and the Bahia
Marina staff.
bring your books and there is TV
and DVD in every room (they lend
you some but you can bring your
own)
I would add a kids playground or

We visited
Bahia Marina and Culebra last
August. We've lived in Puerto
Rico for 2 years, but this was
our first trip to Culebra. I was
totally impressed: no major
traffic, beaches were beautiful,
Captain Bill took us sailing,
everyone was very courteous and
respectful, and it was a
wonderful trip. We were very
pleased with the experience and
the people at the hotel. Our
daughter, future son-in-law and
families will travel from Ohio
to get married at the Bahia
Marina next summer. They ( BH

entire wedding and doing a very
thorough job. I highly recommend

This was
my third time there. Went to
Seabourne and other places, but
this one is the keeper. Service
is great. Can't ask for more,
they pick you up, car rental on
site. Good local and
international menu at their own
restaurant. Food is very good
there. Bar is nice in open air,
high up on the hill top. I like
taking my drinks around the back
to the pool at night, nicest
place to cool off. Very
reasonable price for being on an
island that depends everything
from the mainland to import to.
Remember that you are in a tiny
little Caribbean island, don't
expect anything luxury here. The
place is rustic, homey. Staff
are great, friendly like family.
. It has small kitchen, frige,
cable TV, shower, balcony, A/C,
and it is nicely arranged. I
could use some firmer beds
though. Staying there needs a
car. They rent them there. 10-20
minutes to most major beaches.
Me and my family loves it there
and it is always a great time.
3-5 days will be most
appropriate.

The Bahia
Marina is on a wonderful site
with great ocean views from the
suite balconies and the pools.
Our suite was well appointed and
the sofa bed / two baths /
separate entries it worked well
for my wife and our 23 year old
son. Staff service is
exceptional. Angelica arranged
everything for us, from our car
rental to our flights back; even
following up while on her days
off. At one point I misplaced my
sandals and Juan offered to lend
me his while helping to find
them (and we did). Everything is
within easy driving range. We
opted for the economy Kia sedan
rather than a Jeep 4WD and had
no problems. The main restaurant
is very good and is popular with
tourists and locals. On our
first night there were no tables
and we were able to take our
food orders and dine at our
suite. In addition to the
beaches, I was able to take in a
half day of great fly fishing
for with a local guide Chris
Goldmark (Bonefish in the 15 Lb.
range). Buy some bug spray on
your first grocery visit!

came to PR for a long weekend
and flew to Culebra for a night.
We chose Bahia Marina b/c it
seemed like the cleanest, nicest
place on the island. We really
loved it -- they picked us up
from the airport on time, were
super nice, rooms were
comfortable and totally fine,
and we actually liked being away

the last day we did a trip with
Captain Bill, which was a total

This is a
great place to stay. The rooms
are big, clean, great view.
There is two amazing swimming
pools, and the staff is very
nice, social and approachable.
The inconvenient however is that
it is far away from every beach
and the 'downtown'. If you don't
have a car, you are pretty much
stucked there. Plus, remember to
bring mosquito repellent, they
will eat you there !!!!

We stayed
one night at the Bahia Marina,
because we were visiting
different places in and around
Puerto Rico. Of all the places
we stayed during our vacation it
was the best by far. The service
was incredible. The employees
were always nice to us, they
gave us rides to the ferry,
rides to the restaurants, rides
to the activities that we had
planned. We rented a jeep there
for a really great price, they
gave us informations on the
different beaches we should
go... (by the way, zoni beach is
the most beautiful one) The
owner was very nice to us and a
young man named Juan was just
the same. We had supper at the
restaurant and the food was
excellent. Our room was just by
the pool, with a great view of
the bay and the mountains. We
enjoyed it very very much.

Staying at
Bahia Marina was an absolute
pleasure and I wish I could have
stayed there longer. We were
there Oct 29 - Nov 1, 2009. The
weather was spectacular, and the
views from the hotel were so
awesome; everyone said it was
the first time in many months
they could see all the way out
to St. Croix which is 50 miles
away.
The rooms here are clean and
basic, with all of the modern
conveniences you would want to
enjoy (e.g., air conditioners,
hot shower, dish TV, etc). We
were in a villa with a bedroom,
2 bathrooms, living room with
futon, kitchen, and wrap-around
porch/balcony. We had no
problems whatsoever. Check in
and check out were a breeze. The
food and drink was great, and
the people SO nice. There is
free coffee out all day I think,
but definitely in the morning.
We rented a Jeep so that we
could drive from beach to beach
around the island, and to the
restaurants and such. Bahia
Marina isn't right on a beach
(nowhere really is except the
Culebra Beach Villas on Flamenco
Beach but those rooms are hit or
miss since each unit is
individually owned), but the
island is so small everything is
within a 3-5 minute drive. From
Bahia Marina you could walk down
to Punto Soldado beach in about
15 minutes I would guess.
This is by far the best place to
stay, definitely the cleanest,
has amazing views, two great
restaurants, a fun bar, two
pools one of which has a swim up
bar and grill... I will
definitely stay here again when
I return in January. And I will
be staying longer that's for
sure!!

What a
great first impression! We were
picked up promptly. David (I
think that's his name), gave us
a quick tour as we drove through
town and gave us the lay of the
land. I think he even said
something about Scooby doo. We
drove to the top of a hill and
there was the beautiful
property, with several buildings
and two beautiful pool areas.
The general manager, Jose,
immediately introduced himself
and already knew our names. They
checked us in quickly and
because they were the Thrifty
Car Rental agency, we had our
jeep in minutes. Jose marked the
map with where we should snorkel
around the island and explained
how to get there. He was great.
Our room had a wrap around
terrace with an idyllic
Caribbean view-a gorgeous bay
below with anchored sailboats
and colorful houses on the hill
across. Our room had two full
bathrooms, a separate bedroom, a
kitchen, and an amazing living
room overlooking the bay.
Finally, the upper pool area was
beautiful, and the lower pool
was larger w/a swim up bar and
cafe.
Kevin, Juan, Angelica, Nelly,
and even Capt.. Bill, were all
great. I'm terrible w/names, so
I hope I'm close.
I would definitely stay here
again.

I have my
wedding a couple of month ago at
Bahia Marina in Culebra. This
was one of my best experiences.
Bahia Marina Hotel prepared
everything for the activity and
it was 150 people wedding. The
food was excellent, the service
was awesome, and the ambience
was so perfect by the nature at
the top of the hill of the
mountain that the hotel is
located. The rooms were perfect
for the activity because the
people can choose from village
with one or two bedrooms and the
living room was convertible to a
sleeping area with a queen size
futon. The commodities were
amazing because the rooms have a
kitchen and the persons can
choose to cook or go to the
restaurants. The hotels have two
restaurants, free parking, free
ground transportation to the
resort from airport or ferry,
two main pools and whirlpool,
public area free wireless
internet, etc. I like to thanks
all the personal of Bahia Marina
for give me a wonderful time and
unforgettable experience.

A friend
and I flew to Culebra from the
Isla Grande Airport in San Juan.
To ease the nerves of flying on
a small plane, my friend had a
cocktail at the airport bar. The
friendly bartender ends up being
the son of the Bahia Marina
owner. He comps us our first
round. Great start!
The island of Culebra is really
small. I recommend a jeep from
one of the few rental companies.
The BM location is great. It is
outside the easy peak and valley
crowd rushes that come to the
island via the ferry. You have a
great view of the bay from most
of all rooms. While most flock
to Flamenco Beach, there is a
gorgeous spot at Soldier Point
out by BM. Phenomenal snorkeling
just off the beach.
All in all, the rooms are
reasonably priced, the service
is wonderful, they food is
brilliant at the bar although a
little more expensive than other
restaurants. I recommend at
least one meal there though. I
think I spent $130 one night
which also included 6 or so
rounds of fruity cocktails from
the bar for two. Just book it.
Unless you have a great casita
rental, this is the best you can
get.... One last mention: WiFi
is only at the bar. You really
should drop the connectivity
need in Culebra though and
connect into some relaxation...

well...we were very pleased with
the service.

There are
not enough words to say how much
we enjoyed our stay with our
professional, knowledgeable,
attentive and down-to-earth
hosts at Bahia Marina. Thanks to
Luis, Jose, Angelica (she has
lots of maps of the island :) ),
JI, Juan, Kevin and everyone
else we didn't mention for
making it a great chilled-out
and relaxing trip.
This place is a perfect place to
stay if you are looking for a
comfortable base from which to
explore the year-round natural
beauty of Culebra Island (if you
are reading this then I am sure
you already know why Culebra
interests you, Flamenco beach,
snorkeling etc). The open-air
bar and restaurant is a great
way to end the day, and in our
experience made for by far the
best dining experience on the
island serving delicious local
seafood dishes often with an
adventurous twist (please try
the fresh conch salad, you won't
be disappointed, the chefs are
quite excellent).

Mama I'm
home.
That’s the
way I felt when I got to Culebra
Island. I took the ferry from
Fajardo early Friday morning and
someone from the hotel came to
the dock to pick me up. When we
got to the Hotel I couldn't
believe my eyes. One of the
things you notice when you’re
here is how beautiful it is.
The hotel is not on the beach
but that’s okay because you can
rent a car or call a taxi and in
5 minutes you're in the water.
The hotel is on a mountain ridge
overlooking the bay. And what a
view! I fell asleep in a chair
on my balcony one night just
looking at the boats and water.
I woke up in the middle of the
night and I saw a meteor shower.
I think it happens every year at
this time. I got lucky I guess.
My room was like a condo with a
kitchen and a living room. There
were plates and pots and pans. A
stove and microwave and fridge.
You can cook in the room with
groceries you buy in town.
Prices here were just great. I
went fishing with this guy named
Captain Bill that for a little
fee will take you out on his
catamaran and does he have the
life. He’s got this house that
you can only reach by boat.
There are no roads to his
house. He made a nice lunch and
we fished for a few hours. Then
at the hotel Natalia the chef
cooked up that fish and all I
want to do now is marry her.
The beaches are the best I've
seen in a long time and I've
been around. They aren't far
from the hotel and their just
beautiful. I stayed for a week
and everyday my room was cleaned
and the bed made and if I need
anything all I had to do is
ask. Jose the manager is a
great guy and knows his wines.
The staff is very helpful and
polite. They have a DVD player
in each room and a nice
selection of movies. I didn't
bring my computer and they had
internet access in all the rooms
and at the bar. Speaking of the
bar... they make this green
drink and I forget the name but
is it good! They also have a
drink called a bushwacker and I
had a couple of those. In the
morning there is hot coffee
waiting for you at the bar. A
quick trip into town and I had a
great breakfast everyday. I
really did feel at home here.
Thanks Bahia Marina. I’ll be
there next year to see the sky
show and drink those bushwackers.

My family flew over to Culebra on a Thursday morning. We arrived at the Bahia Marina around 10:30am. Luis, the manager, was very helpful. He told us to put our luggage up by the check in area and come back in an hour and a half. He recommended that we go take a look at Punta Soldado beach just down the road from the hotel. We went there for an hour or so and came back. Our room was ready and we checked in around noon. The nice part was our luggage was placed into our room.
If you decide to go to Culebra here a a few must do's.
1.) Rent a jeep. Carlos Jeep renal treated us well.
2.) Stay at Bahia Marina
3.) Visit Flamenco and Zoni Beaches.
4.) Snorkel Melones and Punta Soldado
5.) Do not expect nightlife in town. It does not exist. Make your own family nightlife at Bahia Marina.
6.) Relax
I found it very pleasurable that there were not any business's in Culebra that I recognized. Looking for a McDonald's, forget it. Wal-Mart, nope. Marriott or Hilton, not gonna find it.

The place is nice, beautiful view. Rooms are big and equipped with everything. The resort personnel are helpful and really want you to have a great time. I went using the airline and they picked us there and took us back at departure. The food is great, my family is composed of three kids and they have food available for them, the grill/bar had a singer on Saturday which created a good mood in the bar. Also you can rent a car in the same resort.

As we
explored the island of Culebra,
Puerto Rico, we knew we had
chosen the perfect place to
stay. The rooms are VERY
comfortable and big. Ours had
two double beds a futon that
sleeps two and TWO bathrooms.
The location is prime on the
island and the views are
breathtaking. The food at the
restaurant was delicious and the
menu has something for
everybody. The staff was very
accommodating with food choices
for my little nephew. Thank you
to Angelica, Nelly and the staff
at Bahia Marina for their help
in making this an unforgettable
vacation.

If you
love nature, beautiful views,
peace and tranquility....Bahia
Marina is for you. If you need
to be next to the beach, then
this is not your place. The only
place you can stay at the beach
in Culebra are the Villas at
Flamenco beach or camping at
Flamenco beach. The Villas are
VERY rustic, you do not get room
service every day and they give
you very thin towels and soap.
There is NO restaurant or cafe,
NADA you are on your own, you
need to buy food, all the Villas
have small kitchens. But you are
staying at one of the top 10
beaches in the Caribbean,
according to Conde Nast. I
preferred Bahia Marina because
the rooms are spacious, clean,
housekeeping every day,
wonderful food at night and
magnificent views, also a very
nice pool and great people to
help you out. You need to rent a
jeep, they run $50.00/day, but
you can run around the island
and visit ALL the beaches. There
are economical taxis but the
attitude in Culebra is "don` t
worry be happy" so if you tell
them to pick you up at 2:00,
most probably will get there at
3:00, but......this is Culebra,
people are happy and they have
zero stress. Go....you will love
it!

We wanted a quite vacation,
celebrating my 50th bday and our
12th anniversary! Room was clean
and well appointed with 2 bath
rooms. Restaurant was superb.
Highly recommend whole red
snapper! Jose and entire staff
were warm & welcoming. We
couldn't have asked for a more
inviting place to stay! Almost
forgot, the view from our room
was perfect, looking onto the
bahia! We will return for sure.
Great memories!!!!!!

Ok I had
visited the property on 4/29/09
to plan my wedding. I met with
the manager Luis, who is the
most gracious and friendly
person... The property was
beautiful... The views
absolutely breath taking and the
rooms clean and spacious,
especially phase 2. I also met
with Aileen, who is helping me
to plan my wedding at the
property. She took the time to
meet me on her day off in San
Juan. Everyone was friendly
helpful and totally helpful with
my limited budget... If you are
thinking of staying here do
yourself a favor and do it! The
prices are fair and the people
beautiful!

We stayed there for nine days in
March. We ate at the restaurant
the first night , and most every
other night the food was so
good. it was quiet , clean
friendly and a beautiful
location,
overlooking a beautiful bay. The
owner Jose is a charming
pleasant guy who immediately
made us feel comfortable. He has
wonderful attitude, always ready
to help in any situation. He
introduced us to Capt. Bill who
owns a 33 ft. catamaran. Capt.
Bill took us out for a day of
deep sea fishing, sailing and
snorkeling. It was the highlight
of our trip. bill is a true
gentleman with lots of
knowledge, and a great cook.
Lunch was a feast. Capt. Bill
also cooked a fish we caught
which was excellent.

the resort. I loved both times,
peaceful, beautiful sunsets and
the entire staff was every nice.
I recommend for a vacation with
family, solo and for honeymoon.
Spacious bedroom and yes two
bathrooms.

Do your self a favor and get
down to Culebra as soon as
possible; you'll be happy you
did. Going to Culebra and
staying at Bahia Marina is an
affordable way to immerse your
self in a tranquil and beautiful
environment at an affordable
price. The views are
breathtaking, the food in
amazing (both at the hotel and
around the island), the
activities are endless and the
people are inspiring. Weather
your exploring the island on
your own (it has several award
winning beaches that are
virtually empty) or taking a
private sailing cruise with
Captain Bill the memories your
sure to forge will endure. With
that said, once you leave you'll
immediately find your self
trying to figure out how your
going to get back to Culebra to
plunge your spirit into what I
think is truly a tiny island
paradise!

I’ve been living and working in
Puerto Rico for about 5 years
now. I love it here and I move
about every 18 months to a new
“pueblo”. I started in Aguas
Buenas then went on to Old San
Juan and now I live in Rincon. I
have a client who owns a
wireless internet company in
Culebra and he asked me to come
in for a day and help him out.
He put me up at the Bahia Marina
and just one day there I felt
that I had come home. Culebra is
beautiful and peaceful. Nothing
fancy here, just sun and fun.
The staff was great, the food is
fantastic. Jose the manager
brought me a couple of rounds at
the bar where I traded secrets
with his computer technician who
likes Sam Addams and they just
happen to have that beer. One
other thing is I left my good
Fossil sunglasses and they
mailed them to me. Well I am not
much of a reviewer so I’m just
going to say if you come to
Puerto Rico you have to visit
Culebra and stay at the Bahia
Marina.
Apr 5, 2009 MrT69
Absolutely the best place we
stayed during our time around
Puerto Rico. The staff is what
stood out more than anything
else. From Louis, to Jose, to
Stephanie the staff made us feel
like family (there are several
others but their names escape
me). Jose appeared to make it
his express purpose to ensure we
experienced as much of Culebra
as possible in our short time
there. He ensured we had towels,
water, and a cooler before we
headed out and when we returned
he would take a minimum of an
hour of his time listening to a
debrief of our activities from
my 9 year old girl, Sabrina.
Then we can roll in to the food
there that was truly excellent
and exquisitely fresh. The rooms
were very clean with a full
kitchen with a balcony
overlooking a magnificent bay,
but we really didn't spend a
whole lot of time in the room.
Snorkeling on the island is
world class.

Oh another addicted traveler to
Culebra. Can't say enough good
things about this place. I was
pretty excited to have found it
after listening to tourists on
the flight back home complaining
about how busy crowded mainland
was. The definite gem of the
trip was when we went to Bahia
Marina. The service was MUCH
MUCH more then I was expecting
and you can not help but have a
good time there. Jose, Luis,
Juan, Nelly, Stephanie, Nicole,
and Angelica all went way above
and beyond to make it feel like
they were not serving you but
were good friends who were apart
of your vacation and wanted to
take care of you and Natalie,
wow that woman can cook!!! It
was a blast and I almost got
that Medalla neon sign!!!! We
met friendly wonderful people
everywhere we turned. While
relaxing with the fine looking
ladies they hire to work there;)
we happen to run into Captain
Bill who talked us into going
out on his fishing and
snorkeling outing and it was
outstanding! Although I was too
man enough to take the Dramamine
which caused us to have to come
back to safer waters a little
early it was still so much fun
and would recommend highly
spending the extra money to have
him cook your meal for you. It
was DELICIOUS!!!! Also you have
to rent a Jeep on the island
just to experience island
driving...WOW that was something
I won't soon forget!!! I could
seriously go on and on about
this place. Miss it already and
can't wait to go back!! Keep up
the good work. There is a reason
you guys are #1. Only drawback
was the chef that works the swim
up bar no longer works there so
it wasn't open but hey guys if
you are looking let me know I am
ready to come back!
Mar 28, 2009 malalola

Let me start by saying the
service was excellent!! Jose the
Manager, Juan the go to guy,
Angelica the Front desk, Vilma
the waitress, Stephnie the
Bartender and Natalie the Chef
were just amazing!! Jose really
does a great job with instilling
the true sense of good customer
service. He is just kind to his
staff and guest alike. I really
judge a person on they treat
their staff he passed with
flying colors! The Bahia is
truly a beautiful place you have
to see for your self it is too
much to explain.

We stayed for five nights at
Bahia Marina in Culebra and
truly enjoyed our stay. We were
in a one bedroom that overlooked
the bay, and the views were even
more remarkable than what we saw
from pictures on the internet.
The suite was clean and served
our needs. The two pools were
very nice, and one of the pools
also had an incredible view from
its deck. We had breakfast on
our balcony each morning and
enjoyed the views of the bay.
Since the only meal served at
the hotel is dinner, you need to
plan on going to the store in 10
minutes away in Dewey for
provisioning. As an American
territory, most of the items at
the store are very similar to
what you would find in a small
supermarket in the states, at
generally the same prices, so no
problem. The staff was very
friendly, helpful, and by day
two everyone seemed to know us
by name, and was interested in
our trip, and strived to be very
helpful. The location in on a
hill overlooking the bay, but
the beach at Punta Soldado is
about a 5 min. drive and then a
10 min. hike to some of the best
snorkeling. The island vibe is
somewhat similar to that of the
British Virgin Islands, which we
visited many times before coming
to Culebra, except a bit more
"American", which means more
North Americans and better food,
Culebra has less night life than
places in the BVI like Foxy's
and the Willie T, but Manacitas
and the Dinghy Dock were fun
nonetheless. And the main
beaches, like Playa Flamenco and
Zoni, are beautiful and
secluded, as advertised.
Although everyone has heard of
St. Thomas, Its amazing that
more people in the states have
not heard of Culebra Island,
which is within sight of the
both the USVIs and mainland
Puerto Rico. Kudos to the Bahia
Marina hotel owners and
professional staff for making
our experience so enjoyable.
We'll be back.

I
stayed at Bahia Marina hotel in
Culebra, P.R. in January 2009. I
enjoyed the usual Caribben
things such as sun, pool,
flowers, however I found the
food to be beyond compare. The
fish with lime sauce was
fabulous. The chocolate mousse
was the best I have ever had in
my life. The staff was very
friendly. Some fascinating
people from all over the world
were at the Shipwreck bar. The
Villas were spacious and clean.
A 30 foot catamaran took us out
to an aquamarine sea where we
saw two sea turtles. We also saw
huge frigate birds soaring
overhead. When you go, be sure
to visit Flamenco Beach, about
10 minutes from the hotel. This
is one of the ten most beautiful
beaches in the world.

From
the minute we arrived to
Culebra, we knew we made the
best decision to get away for
our 10-year wedding anniversary.
The Island of Culebra is
tranquil, laid back, and
breathtaking to look at. And
Bahia Marina is the perfect
place to unwind.
A driver picked us up from the
regional airport and drove us
directly to the resort, where we
were greeted by the most warm
and friendly staff (Jose,
Michelle, and others). From
there, we went directly to their
expansive pool area (with swim
up bar & grill). Just
gorgeous--the pool looked out
into the plush landscape as well
as the magnificent views of the
bay and ocean.
The accommodations were equally
fabulous. We stayed in the
1-bedroom, 2 bath
condo--outfitted with stainless
steel appliances, 2 showers, and
again, another stellar view of
the island from the wrap-around
deck. The condo was very
comfortable and clean--and close
enough (yet far enough) from
town.
Finally, the onsite restaurant
and bar(s) were another asset to
the location -- the friendly
staff were very conscientious,
personable, and went out of
their way to ensure we had a
good time. You can't beat the
service--and we visited the
other resorts on the island.
Overall, this has become one of
our favorite secret get-away
destinations and we look forward
to returning!

I am a travel
professional who was posed with the
task of finding a dream vacation for
my best friend and his kids. He
wanted a tropical trip without the
plastic trappings of Orlando or
other such artificial amusements. He
had checked the Seychelles and
Bonaire for their natural appeal but
both were prohibitively expensive to
get to . That's when I remembered
Culebra; an island I first learned
about from another friend whose
father had retired there.
After extensive research, I came to
the conclusion that Bahia Marina was
the place to be. The management was
wonderful to work with, and the
service staff was friendly and
efficient. Situated just south of
town, its location is excellent to
reach a secluded beach or go to town
for incidentals easily. The grounds
and accommodations were great. After
a day of exploring the island or
swimming a new beach every day, the
kids loved the wonderful pool to
unwind and relax. This is the
perfect spot to enjoy yourself
either by staying so busy having fun
or doing nothing at all but
relaxing. Were all of life's choices
so appealing.
p.s. Bahia
Marina also rented us our car. We
had a flat on Sunday morning but one
call to the office had us on our way
in about an hour. Quicker than AAA.

The reason of my vacation was to get away from home, work, and stress. All I wanted was to spend quality time with my husband and kids. On my way to the resort I was wishing for everything to be ok, but we have never experienced such incredible vacation. The view, the environment, the pools, and the staff were great. We had a great time. The kids loved it. I would suggest to anyone to stay, and experience a relaxed and great vacation at Bahia Marina.

Bahia Marina Condo Resort is the most "full-service" accommodation on the island, without question. It is an Villa/ condo facility bordering a 100-acre nature preserve. The resort is on a ridge with AMAZING panoramic views (from the Villa wrap-around balconies) of Fulladoza Bay and the seas bordering Culebra. You really have to see it to believe it - pictures just don't do it justice. Every unit has cable TV (including HBO) and internet access, plus the public areas have free wireless (wifi) internet. There are two main swimming pools, a wading pool and a Jacuzzi. Parking is free and "Tony" will pick you up and drop you off at the airport or fairy dock at no charge. You can also rent a car (Thrifty Rental) right at the property when you check in.
We stayed in the one bedroom Villa (referred to as "Phase I", although "Lisa" - one of the owners - does not like that term - she prefers "Villas" as opposed to the "Condos" of "Phase II":-)), which has two full size beds, two full bathrooms with showers, a living room area (with a queen size micro fiber futon), a kitchenette area (which includes dishes, silverware, pots and pans, coffee maker and toaster), and two A/C units (one in the living room and one in the bedroom). The inside of the Villa is pleasant, although in some need of paint, and some general maintenance. For example, one of our toilets would run until we manually adjusted the inside apparatus after each use, and the A/C in the bedroom sounded like a jet plane was taking off, such that we had to turn it off every night in order to sleep. Plus, the water pressure was non-existent in both showers, and the bathroom entrances are strikingly narrow (if you are a professional football player, you will have to enter the bathroom sideways :-)) "Housekeeping" was also a bit spartan (made beds and changed garbage bags only).
The facility has 2 restaurants (and both are only open for dinner, I think - not sure about lunch cuz we were always in town or snorkeling during the day -- but definitely not breakfast): Shipwrecks Bar and Grill (a more casual dining experience downstairs) and Dakity's (a little bit more upscale restaurant upstairs - only open on the weekends). Chef "Anne" at Dakity's is amazing - our first night there we enjoyed outstanding pumpkin and ginger cream soup, asparagus risotto and chocolate soufflé. Unbelievable!! And both restaurants went out of their way to let us order "off the menu" in order to feed my vegetarian traveling companion. The best part was that there are essentially only 4-5 other restaurants on the Isle (Club Seaborne's, Mamasitas, Dinghy Dock's, Heather's, and Suzies on Wed - Sun), and since Shipwrecks/Dakity's are BY FAR the best, "our" bar and restaurant would really bustle at night (in an otherwise quiet atmosphere), making us feel like the kids with the cool parents with the best house in the neighborhood ;-) Keep in mind that , while the service is attentive and friendly, it is still "Island-paced" - so be prepared to wait a little while for your food (especially when they are busy) - but just kick back and enjoy the Island breeze.
And...ah the hosts - family run businesses are the best! Jose "Sr" (owner/operator) was the best kind of "can-do" person on the planet. He was ALWAYS around, If we needed anything (even during the "off-hours"), we only had to ask once. And, even though the bar did not open "technically" until 3 PM, Jose, Jr. ("JI" as he is called, so as not to confuse him with Jose "Sr") was always willing to make us his special "Jose" Daiquiri (a splendid mix of strawberry, lime, and pineapple juices plus lemon zest -- yum!). Their Bushwaker (yes, "waker", not "wacker") blended chocolaty drink is also delicious. And speaking of the "Bushwaker", JI's Uncle, "Captain Bill", will take you out for the best chartered catamaran (named the "Bushwaker") trip of your life. You can go on a fishing trip, a scenic trip, or a snorkeling trip - whatever you like - he's at your service. And if you decide to go fishing (and catch a yellow-fin tuna or the like), Jose Sr. will fry it up, or sushi it up, for you! And speaking of the "people" part, we cannot forget the very helpful and responsive Aileen (who helps with preliminary reservations etc.), the kind and gentle spirited Tony (our "chauffeur "), the feisty and funny Michelle (Asst. General Manager, who does everything from checking you in/out, to renting you your car, to shuttling you to/from the airport, to housekeeping... as needed) , to delightful and chatty Lisa (married to Jose Sr.), to sweet and warm Leah at the bar. I won't name them all, but ALL of the staff was kind and friendly - a complete delight.
So...go for the people AND THE VIEW from your balcony (see attached pictures - the 1st 2 are views from inside the Villa - the 3rd is a picture of the Villas themselves from the road below - they are the 3 pink structures way at the top of the picture. You will never tire of either one! We will be back every single year. There is simply nothing else like it. Oh, by the way, the "Phase II" (sorry Lisa) Condos are now on the market. They are amazing...just ask Lisa ALL about them at lisa@bahiamarina.net. Enjoy!!!!

We recently returned from a 5 night stay at the Bahia Marina. We absolutely loved it. You can always tell a great place by the amount of time the owner spends not only at the hotel, but by how much time he spends with his guests. Jose was always gracious and wanted to know how we were enjoying ourselves and our stay at Bahia every day we saw him.
The rest of the staff at Bahia was great too. Friendly and upbeat all the time, they were a joy to be around, but weren't at all overbearing. All in all, the most friendly folks you could possibly ask for. I would name some names, but cant remember them! :)
The food at Bahia was special. I think easily the best on the island, especially the spring rolls.....yumm....my hats off to the chef...she puts together some incredible dishes....eating at the restaurant at Bahia is a must for anyone visiting Culebra. Club Seabourne, where we did try one meal, does not measure up and was much more expensive.....too expensive I thought.
Our room was great and the beds comfortable. We will be back next year.
Last , but certainly not least, we took a day sailing trip with Captain Bill in search of tuna, mahi mahi (sp?) and wahoo (sp?). For those who have not taken this trip....just do it. Cap'n Bill took us out around Culebrita and Cayo Norte where we did some snorkeling...saw a great variety of fish and a turtle sitting on the bottom....pretty cool. Bill tried his best to hook something for us, but it was just not to be on this day. Next trip he said...:) But, he did cook up a great fresh tuna (which he had caught a few days earlier) for us on the boat that was almost as good as what you get at the Bahia restaurant...simply great is all you can say.
One more thing....one of our first nights at the Bahia restaurant Jose pointed out that Carlos Delgado, first baseman for the NY Mets, was sitting behind us. He's a native Puerto Rican and a big boy. How cool is that?!!
We hated to leave, but found a great place at the Bahia Marina to stay for all future visits. Thank you Jose and great staff at Bahia for a terrific vacation!

We cannot say enough great things about our stay at Bahia Marina. From the moment we were picked up at the Ferry Station by Jose to the very last night checking out with Luis, we were overwhelmed by the most excellent service of all of the staff!
Our room had an incredible view of the bay and was very spacious and well equipped.
An absolute must is a day trip on Captain Bill's catamaran. We did some snorkeling and deep sea fishing on his beautiful boat. He provided an excellent lunch and great company. His knowledge of the island and the best places for snorkeling / fishing is not to be missed! We caught a very large wahoo on our trip and he arranged for the fish to be cooked by Chef Natalia at Bahia Marina. The fish was incredible, Chef Natalia prepared it several different ways, all of which were delicious.
Culebra is a very laid back island, a hidden gem, but not for folks who like a really active nightlife. It's perfect if you want to see some of the most beautiful beaches and interact with it's wonderful people.
One other thing not to be missed is the pizza at Heathers! Yummy!

Bahia Marina in Culebra is Perfect.
How else would you like to spend your R&R, then in a big Villa, Beautiful Pool's, great food,... Just Spectacular. Service was not bad at all.
Plus Its a family oriented place, and did I mention how great priced they are.
I'm even going to plan a wedding there some day...
I hope all who read this review keep in mind a couple of things.
Culebra is what it is, This place just makes it better.
Good Job Guy's.

I never heard of Culebra until about a month before we went. The island is wonderful and the Bahia Marina resort a great base from which to experience it. The town on Culebra is just big enough to supply every need like groceries and restaurants, leaving all the rest to nature. We were there near the peak of tourist season and never felt crowded. We like to fish and snorkel and found endless places to do that. Soldado Beach is a beautiful beach with good fishing and the snorkeling there is fantastic - just a short walk from Bahia Marina. The staff at Bahia Marina clearly love Culebra and were very friendly and helpful in pointing us where to go and how to get there. Our rooms were spotless, we never saw a bug and the Marina restaurant served wonderful island-flavored entrees. Then nothing like sitting back in the evening and peacefully soaking up the amazing view from up there. My teenage boys, one of whom didn't even want to make the trip, loved it. We're back in Florida now but Culebra is still with us.

First of all the best experience was the Dakity Restaurant. Great food, good prices, excellent service, best food we had in Culebra. Hotel has very relaxing environment, and the pool has a nice view. Front desk was very helpful. I would go back with my family.

We stayed at the Bahia Marina July 2008 and loved it! From the minute we checked in the front desk took care of us. We arrived earlier than expected and sat at the breezy bar for a few Medallas (the local beer) and after about 30 minutes we were able to check in early. We were given what I felt was the best room in the resort, because the view and the top porch. The room itself was clean and large (my husband and I were traveling with another couple and could have easily had another couple stay, because it was that big). The two bathroom unit was very convenient and private for us.

We celebrated our wedding in Culebra in June 2008. The Bahia Marina Resort staff organized it all, from flowers, to the cake, to beach ceremony transportation and set up, to a lovely reception with a great bar and excellent food...many guests said it was the best reception they had ever attended! The prices were quiet reasonable...I came out below budget! And most importantly, the staff was patient, attentive, and put their hearts into giving us a day we will never forget. Thank you Bahia Marina!

Had an amazing time. From we walked in to we left we felt like family. Words can not describe the view I faced every morning with my cup of coffee. I wanted peace & quiet & I got it. I will return & to Bahia as they are the best at what they do.

After reading many reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to stay at the Bahia Marina Condo Hotel. I called the hotel directly, Jose, the manager was excellent. I was very impressed with his customer service over the phone. He talked we me about the property, the island and the different options of getting to Culebra. Upon arrival, they came to the airport to pick us up and everyone we encountered were nice and certainly capable. The location is very pretty and the room clean. We had great views from the deck. The restaurant was excellent. They have a Thrifty Car Rental on site and we rented a jeep from them as well which was convenient. Overall, it was a great stay and I felt like it was a very good value.

We stayed in the new condos (Phase 2). Newly constructed, looked just like the pictures in their website (click on 'Buy a Villa' link). Phase 2 had closer access to their pool compared to staying in the Phase 1 units. Pleasant grounds on a hilltop with decent views, but nothing breathtaking. The new kitchens are great if you're staying for a week and want to do your own cooking (go to Milka for groceries).
Phase 2 was still under construction, however, we were on the far end of the new developments and were never bothered by noise, just the sight of two shell buildings without windows, occupants, etc.

My family and I went there to acompany my wife who had some work to do in Culebra. It is hard to find anywhere the kind of attention we received while staying there. Our ferry from Fajardo to Culebra was late so we got to Culebra pretty late. Shortly before we got there, I received a call from the hotel because we have not shown up. Later, they call me again to see if I wanted them to keep their restaurant open a bit longer than usual so we could have dinner, I said yes and they did. I must say that the food was also great. You will get to see that its owner and and employees really and sincerely care about their clients. I have to go back again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great attention, you would remember this people for a while!!

My husband and I
just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary
with a trip to the Caribbean. We spent four
days on Culebra. The room we had at Bahía
Marina was unbelievable for the price. We
had a wraparound deck, kitchenette, bedroom,
two full bathrooms and a killer view of the
bay. The staff picked us up at the airport,
and were very accommodating during our stay.
We enjoyed wonderful meals at the Shipwreck
bar. I would strongly recommend this condo
hotel-hotel to anyone.

My wife and I spent
four evenings at Bahía Marina Hotel which
was a wonderful experience. The owner Jose
and his wife Lisa couldn't do enough for
you. Jose was around most of the time and he
insured that we had a happy experience day
or night.
The apartment was spacious with a beautiful
tropical panoramic view from the balcony. My
wife liked the spacious kitchen which was
well equipped including stainless steel
appliances. The whole apartment was
bright, colorful and done in good taste.
The supper food surprised me. I did not
expect such excellent food and attentive
service. Whether we had meat or fish, it was
excellent. The ribs I cut with my fork! The
vegetables were crunchy, not overdone and
properly priced meals. No gouging here. We
had lunch at Mamacit'as which is very
colorful and borders the pretty, connecting
channel. Good experience.
We visited Flamenco Beach twice. It is
outstanding and rated in the top 10 in the
world. It is so beautiful. Blue, blue, blue
calm waters for swimming and wading. The
hotel people dropped us off at the ferry
dock and we took one of the many Flamenco
taxis for $2.00 each way. If you rent a jeep
you can go to many other beaches, some
deserted and snorkeling sites. We rented
kayaks close by and paddled in the
neighboring bay.
We visited the Butaki art store and my wife
discovered the stateside artist/owner who
fell in love with Culebra. My artist wife
contracted for a half day of lessons and
insights. A highlight for her and wants to
return for his lessons. (Wish he wasn't so
good looking.)
Culebra is still a tropical, rustic island
and our stay at Bahía made our vacation most
pleasurable.

My wife and I spent four nights here in February and had a

The brochure and websites do not do justice to this little
